MY DREAMLAND (QUEST)
David Leclerc AKA Quest often cited as the most productive & efficient producers from the Capital Region.

Quest hails from the Ottawa-Gatineau region, started his music career at the age of 21 (2001) by DJ in clubs, that's where he meets Anderson from the Boogaloo Tribe (one of the first Ottawa rap group). Boogaloo Tribe his the reason Quest started hanging out in music studios and where he first got introduced to beat making on mpc's and beat machines

At the same time, he got introduced to 148 Crew in Aylmer and started experimenting with his first beats.

Because of 148 Crew, he met Kareem, who became is a very good friend and with whom he started his first group called La Symphonie (2002). In La Symphonie there were 2 other members, Clint, and Da Heala.

Da Heala was Quest first contact with an actually experienced beatmaker and Da Heala basically became his mentor and taught him the basic on how to compose and create beats.

Da Heala then left the group and search a bigger opportunity by becoming the beatmaker for Belly and Massari, then known as CApital Prophets. And then Da Heala followed X.O. and ended up producing for The Weeknd. (not bad for a mentor)

Quest then descided to become better at this new craft of beat making by also becoming a sound engineer and trying is hand in the technical and sound design of it.

He enrolled in The Audio Recording Academy (T.A.R.A.) in Ottawa, and that's where he got introduced to DAW's and the process of creating full songs, mixing an mastering. His actual first complete beat was made in that studio and Kareem and Mista Mean are featured on it. That knowledge helped him become a complete engineer. (2002-2003)

After graduating, he started working at Distortion Studios as a sound engineer/beatmaker under the supervision of head engineer there, Nick Hynes (guitarist, songwriter for Bran Van 3000). Worked there for a year and that experience is what made Quest become a complete music producer. (2003)

That's where he meets TunzSounds (the biggest rap group of Gatineau at that time) and started bonding with them and even doing his first recordings and actual mixing for them.

Also, hanging around the studio was Broken Bridge, the biggest rap group of Ottawa at that time. That's where he met Dynamic, Kaydub and King Kong. Kaydub was also a helper in getting better at the art of beat-making. (2004-2006)

After that, Quest decides to start his own home studio, and that's when the actual fun started.

Delit de Fuite Production (phase 1) was the first name of Quest's studio. Known as DFP.
That's where he started producing for pretty much anyone that rapped in Gatineau, that's when he became known as the guy in the area and produced albums after albums (most of them featured on his wall). from 2007 until 2017, he produced albums for D-track, Almiros,Ricky King, Cza, Meunier, Districk11 (whom have to this date the video with most views on youtube for a local artist) Righteous, Mista Mean, M@heo, Godlalune (Quest first song on commercial radio), Natio, Patchostars, Misa, Kareem, Ali, Nova, Kode, Souldia (QC City), Ryms (Mtl), Soke, Le Grimaud just to name a few...

At that point, Quest had made his name in the Capital region and was sought after for his efficiency in delivering the work on time and with dedication and creativity.

During that time he also met Hevve, who would become Quest's guy, his main artist. The 2 of them developed a bond like no other, it was meant to be.

Dfp (phase 2 aka SND * TRK) starts in 2017, he and Hevve embark on a journey that would start with the Year of the Bangers series of EP's. That when Quest became a serious producer and developed a new way of ''on the spot'' producing. During that phase came a new series of artists like Chris Keez, McCado, Timal Garnier, NC, Dj Alive, BullyZone, Jeff Sanon, $edrick, 6ense, Made Wade, Selekwa, BLikeBrett, WAxx (son of MC Ren), Shifter Magazine (that would later play a new role in Quest career).

Quest also introduced 2 new strings to his arc, photography, and videography, that would become a staple for him and a way to help promote artists he works with, mainly Hevve.

in 2018, was a series on wins for him and Hevve, including the album V, the Bluesfest, radio interviews, podcasts, Shifter agency signing, recognition from his pears.

Now in 2019, Quest believes he's just getting started, 18 years after picking up his first turntables, his beats are becoming more fluid and more efficient than ever.

The next phase is called Dreamland (Quest, Hevve, Shifter) and one of the first projects under that brand name will be Quest's album featuring a bunch of talented rappers/singers from the Capital region, stay tuned!
